FAQ

Q. When I attempt to use the Online Scan, nothing is happening or I receive an error message.

A. Confirm that you are using the online scan from a Windows account that has administrative privileges. If you are, perform the following steps: in Internet Explorer, click Tools, then Internet Options. Select the Security tab. Select Custom Level, and scroll down the list until you find "Download signed ActiveX control". Click on the radio button labeled "Prompt" (not "Enable"). Click OK. Once you have completed these steps, the Online Scan should run. You may have to click yes to confirm that you wish to install the ActiveX controls.

Q. What is the Quick Scan option? Will it find everything on my computer?

A. The Quick Scan option checks only the locations where viruses are most likely to be, resulting in a much faster process. However, all of the files and folders on the computer will not be checked. To check the entire contents of the computer, a Full Scan is recommended.

Q. Does the Online Scan check archived files for viruses?

A. Yes, the Online Scan can look inside archives if you choose the Custom Scan option and select Scan Inside Archives. Only archives with the .ZIP extension are supported. The Online Scan can detect, but can not remove, infected files inside a .ZIP archive.

Q. The Online Scan found an infection on my computer. What should I do?

A. If the Quick Scan has found a virus or other malware, you should run a Full Scan next to find and remove the remnants of any malware that remains on your computer. If the Full Scan is unable to remove any viruses from your computer, it may be necessary to install a full Anti-Virus solution.

Q. Why is the Full Scan unable to check certain folders on my computer?

A. The ZSecurity Online Scan is limited by the access rights of the Windows login that you are using. Any files or folders that are hidden to your Windows login can not be seen by the Online Scan. To remedy this, a full Anti-Virus solution such as ZSecurity Anti-Virus or Internet Security is recommended.

Q. Is the ZSecurity Online Scan all that I need to protect my computer?

A. No. Some viruses can permanently damage your computer, making it impossible to run an online scan. To ensure that this can not happen, install a full Anti-Virus solution such as ZSecurity Anti-Virus or Internet Security.

Q. How do I remove the ZSecurity Online Scan from Internet Explorer?

A. In the Windows folder, find the Downloaded Program Files folder and double click it. Right click on ZSecurity Online Scan and select Remove. Remove the virus definitions from your Temp folder.

Q. How do I remove the ZSecurity Online Scan from Firefox?

A. In Firefox, click Tools, and Add-Ons. Click on the ZSecurity Online Scan extension and select Uninstall. Remove the virus definitions from your Temp folder.
